In an effort to provide abused children with a safe way to reach out for help, a Spanish organization called the Aid to Children and Adolescents at Risk Foundation, or ANAR for short, created an ad that displays a different message for adults and children at the same time.

Congratulations to the woman of steel, Shaneen Barnes.

Shaneen finished the Two Oceans Marathon without breaking a sweat (or stopping for Chocolate Fudgies).

Not even a knee injury or gale force winds could stop her from finishing this race.

Shaneen, Tomcat salutes you.

Breaking news: Johan Kok accepted the challenge to do the Two Oceans Half Marathon with me next year. Sadly the only exercise I get is jumping to conclusions, so I better start getting my act together if I want to take Johan up on this.

It’s Football Friday at Tomcat Ad Agency, and our company’s been split into two groups: The Liverpool Supporters (Lead by Antony) The Arsenal Supporters (Lead by Berlise)

A vinyl toy is on the line for the leader of the groups. The leader of the losing group has to buy a vinyl toy for the winning group’s leader, and a muffin for each of the supporters. The winners also win bragging rights till the next match, which is probably the coolest prize of all, right?!

We were so excited about Mandela Day that we decided to divide into two teams to make the most of our 67 minutes.

Team one felt that they wanted to make a difference in their direct area, so they decided to make sandwiches for the homeless people in Bellville. They managed to give two sandwiches to each person, and their sandwiches filled the tummies of little children and adults. The Mandela Day initiative touched their lives and the lives of those they helped.

Team two went to the Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre in Joostenberg Vlakte to give some love to the animals. Uitsig has 300 dogs, 120 cats, horses, pigs AND a goat! If you ever want to adopt an animal we suggest that you go straight to Uitsig because they have the loveliest, sweetest pets. Skip the gym and go to Uitsig on Saturdays to take the dogs for a walk on the farm – it’s guaranteed to be a lot of fun!

The Tomcat studio decided to fill up on creative juice by going gallery gambolling in Stellenbosch.

The first part of our adventure was choosing a transport method, and after much deliberation we decided to take the company’s bakkie – with two of us sitting at the back like prisoners. (It was a lot of fun!)

We went to four galleries in Stellenbosch, and all of them contained something that inspired us. But perhaps the most inspiring part of our adventure was the street art and the beautiful architecture that we saw. From Dylan Lewis statues to a giant granite compass to a fallen fairy – Stellenbosch was full of surprises!

After popping into little creative shops and boutiques, we were very cold and looking for a place where we could warm up. We were directed to 1802 – a beautiful place where you can sit outside with warm blankies and red wine to keep you warm.

Stellenbosch’s architecture and galleries, together with 1802’s décor and delicious wine, served as sufficient inspiration to fill up our creative fuel.

The Caramello Bears that we ate at the end of the day was the last bit of inspiration that we needed to go back to Tomcat’s towers filled up with creativity.
